Holy Crap! The Blog! Episode II

March 27, 2009 at 8:05 am (Whats up, doc?)

I completely forgot about this thing.   I’m gonna start it up again.  That’s right.

=)

Man, everything was different the last time I posted here.  I was an RA, I was in the middle of my second year of college, I had a girlfriend, and I was just generally happier.  Now it’s almost the end of my third year, & still haven’t shot anything that I’m really proud of because I seem to be incapable of writing something simple; I always bite off more than I can chew.

I’ve been really out of it the past month or so.  I’m not really sure what my problem is.  Let’s try and figure it out.

I feel like such a waste of life.  I need a job.  I have a lot of work to catch up on for class.  I wish I had more money.  I’m terrified of graduating next year.  I feel really insecure.  I don’t think anyone really likes me.  I’m scared of working at Fridays for the rest of my life.  Maybe I’m not the brilliant, innovative filmmaker I thought I was when I was 14.  Maybe I chose the wrong major.  I make music; maybe that’s where my career is.  I like to write; maybe I should have studied journalism.  Maybe I would have been happier doing that.  Maybe not, but who knows – the not knowing part really freaks me out, too.  I’ve been irritable lately.  A lot of things piss me off.  I wish I had more friends, but I take pride in knowing I wouldn’t completely change myself just to gain friends or fit in with a group.  The few people who do stomach my presence somewhat frequently, I feel obligated to mention here (as I never have) how much it makes me feel better to know you’re a friend.  Whoever it is, whenever I get a text or a call from someone I get to call my friend, it always cheers me up.  Even if it’s about nothing.  Maybe I’m just weird, talking about all of this shit.  Maybe I am insane.  Who knows.  Bleh.  I hate to admit it but I’m a little lonely.  It’s not a big deal; everyone gets lonely.  It just sorta sucks sometimes.  You ever take a really long walk and just look at the people you pass, and wonder how many of them you could have a relationship with?  How many potential relationships that could work out perfectly do you pass every day, just because no one said anything?  It’s terrifying and kind of encouraging at the same time.  I guess I should learn to do that.  I’m the king of hindsight.

No more bitching and moaning, let’s go over some good shit.

Green Day‘s new album comes out May 15th.  I’m excited.  I love those guys.  Oh and Blink-182 is back together? What?  WHAT?  Seriously, who knew? Well, we all did; just didn’t think it would be this soon.

Also, I can’t fucking wait for this summer.  Beach, make some money, make some shorts, and work on a bigger one.  Going to plan my thesis down to every fucking letter and camera movement.  I think I know who I’m going with for my advisors, too (Bowes and Brooker).

Alright, this was fun.  Same time tomorrow?  Or maybe in a couple hours?  Sweet.

Why would you stop at a red light and let me hit you doing 80?!?

December 24, 2007 at 2:31 am (Whats up, doc?)

I rear-ended some lady yesterday. NOT cool.  I felt bad.  Her car is fine; my car has a big dent in the front.  Accidents happen.  Bleh. But hey! Tomorrow is Christmas Eve.  I did most of my shopping today.  I bought my dad the Indiana Jones trilogy, and a new snazzy belt.  I got mom a couple CDs and a gift certificate to Bath & Body Works.

I almost bought Logic Express today but decided to actually learn it a little bit first, or maybe stick to Pro Tools.  I might take an Apple learning class to learn Logic Express.  Awesome.

I think I’ll watch Star Wars tonight.  Maybe Empire, or Jedi.  Or A New Hope.  Or all three! Fuck yeah! Christmas Eve-Eve Star Wars Marathon! Alright later.

The Blog is back in town…

December 17, 2007 at 9:20 am (Whats up, doc?)

Hey hey people.  I totally forgot about this blog for a shitload of time.  Yeah, like 3 months.  But now its back.  Hooray! Alright so it’s really late.  I was up for a while before playing bass and relaxing.  My girlfriend is asleep in my bed behind me.  Look!

Oh yeah! I have a girlfriend now.  Well since September.  Yeah, nice.  She’s swell.  We frolic through fields of sunflowers and bathe in fountains and soar on eagles over the countryside.  Tonight we watched Superbad and ate Pop Tarts and ice cream.  INTENSE.  Yup.So the semester is pretty much over except for a couple classes on Tuesday and Wednesday.  My semester film came out alright.  It’s pretty rad.  I’ll post it later.  But yeah in a few days I get to go home which is awesome.  Chill with my family, play with my dog, wave hello to all my neighbors whose homes I probably vandalized at some point in high school, it’s good stuff.  I wanna chill with Hack when I go home because he has a Wii and I wanna play some ultimate bowling.  My girlfriend has a Wii but it’s never set up in her room, which is the equivalent of handing me a working lightsaber and then when I’m about to activate the crystals, you throw it in the ocean.  Lame.  Oh well.  Wii soon so it’s cool.My girlfriend got me a bass for Christmas though which is totally rad.  Love you!

Alright I got work tomorrow and then I’m going Christmas shopping.  Woot!  Later people!

Holy crap! The Blog!

August 30, 2007 at 5:10 pm (Whats up, doc?)

I forgot about this thing for a while.

Time to recap? Time to recap.

So I’m living in NYC waiting for school to start. Last Sunday all the new students moved in. Being an RA I had to chill here all day and check them into their rooms. Fun. Bleh. We got free food though which was great. So now today, all the returning students are moving back in. Check-In began at 9am. Its now 1:06 PM. How many people checked in on my floor so far? Zero. None. No one checked in on my floor. I’ve been sitting here for 4 hours. Holy balls I am fucking bored. Seriously people, move in already. I didn’t have to get up at 9 apparently and I wouldn’t have if I knew you all were gonna take your sweetysweet time moving back into your dorms. Oh well, we get free food again today. Nice.

My room is the most pimp dorm room ever, by the way. Yeah. I have a sexy area rug which has a glass coffee table and a leather chair on it, not to mention my sexy walls which are still being decorated. I am McLovin.

Alright, gonna go walk around the floor until someone needs to be checked in. Later, people.

Tylenol is your friend.

August 9, 2007 at 4:14 pm (Whats up, doc?)

I woke up Tuesday with a sore throat. In a couple hours I had a headache. By the afternoon I had chills, a fever of 103, an extremely painful throat, a throbbing head, and a bonanza of aches. Yesterday I went to the doctor and they did the fast strep test and it said negative but it coulda been wrong. They took blood to see if its mono but I don’t think it is because I’m not exhausted or constantly sleeping, but who knows. I feel better today, except for my throat still hurting. I can barely talk because it hurts a lot, and swallowing is no fun right now. My temp was normal this morning so I guess that’s good.

My diet for the past 3 days:

I was planning on moving back to NYC on Saturday but I think I’m gonna push that back until Sunday, seeing as how I sound like I’m talking with a sock in my mouth right now, an extra day of rest might be smart. Okay, time for a shower and some grilled cheese. Later, people.

“That’s no moon, it’s a space station.”

August 4, 2007 at 3:21 pm (Whats up, doc?)

Yup, in a week I’ll be back at school in New York. As it gets closer and closer Im realizing that I’m actually going into my second year of college which is crazy awesome to think about. I love New York City more than any place that I’ve ever been, except maybe home in Jersey, but I consider NYC my home too.

I have a lot of things to do before next week. I need a whole bunch of new clothes because I haven’t bought many clothes in like the past year. I need a bunch of stuff for my dorm room, food, shoes, notebooks, pens, appliances, and lots of hangers.

One of the big reasons I’m so amped to head back to the city is because of all the awesome stuff that goes on in The Big Apple. Concerts, shows, movie sets, and just a lot of really really cool things that make NYC so amazing. For example, here’s +44 doing an in-store signing last year at the Virgin Store like 40 seconds from my school. Sweet.

Traffic Court = Satan’s Asshole.

August 2, 2007 at 12:23 am (Whats up, doc?)

I went to court today to take care of a ticket I got for “not maintaining lane” like a month ago. Man, traffic court is fucking boring. You sit there for like 4 hours, and the whole part that is actually about your ticket takes like 14 seconds. It was kind of interesting listening to the judge and seeing how the whole court process.

KEVIN SMITH TOMORROW AT COUNT BASIE THEATRE IN RED BANK. FUCK YEAH!

Peace.

Punk’s Not Dead

July 30, 2007 at 7:04 pm (Whats up, doc?)

The independent documentary Punk’s Not Dead is gonna be playing in NYC this week. It features a lot of punk rock bands from the 80′s and 90′s and is getting pretty great reviews. I really wanna go so if someone would like to go, lemme know. Okay, I’m done.

One Camera, $1900.. Two DV Tapes, $14.95…

July 28, 2007 at 2:57 am (Whats up, doc?)

Getting paid to film a band play live and have a kickass time – priceless. Well, actually it’s not priceless. They paid me to do it. It was still a lot of fun though. The guys from Waking are really rad and put on a great show. I don’t know how good the footage came out, but I definitely got some good shots in there.

It’s so cool shooting concerts because the crowd always looks at you with a sort of slight respect, mixed with a little bit of “get that camera out of the way you moron I can’t see the stage.” I definitely felt both of those.

Check out my shiny access pass to Starland. Nice.
Shiny Starland Ballroom Access Pass.

Okay, later.

No I don’t have a ticket, I’m with the band..

July 25, 2007 at 11:41 pm (Whats up, doc?)

This Friday I’m gonna be filming a performance by the band Waking at Starland Ballroom. They’ll be playing with 40 Below Summer, With Daggers Drawn, Lowclas, Infernal Truth, Chronic D, and The Following. Come to the show and look for me. I’ll be the guy with the awesome camera on his shoulders going back and forth in front of the stage behind the security guards. Oh and I’m getting paid for it, too. Awesome.

The first one…

July 25, 2007 at 5:28 am (Whats up, doc?)

A Lot of people started making these really cool blogs and they kept showing me them saying “these blogs are sweet, Chris! you should make one!” So I caved. I present to you my incredibly sexy, totally rad new blog. I know how much you all want to read about stuff I do and, basically, just read anything I write. What’s that? No? Oh okay, that’s cool too.

So what the hell should I start with? How about a Family Guy clip? Cool? Cool.

I guess I’ll tell you what’s going on in general. Right now it’s about 12:53 in the morning. I’m listening to this band called Pinback who you should totally check out. I just started listening to them and they’re awesome. Good stuff. I’ve been listening to a lot of different music lately. If you know anything about me then you know I love punk rock, and I used to pretty much only listen to it but I like to think I’ve expanded my taste in music a lot. Yeah man, I’m all diverse and stuff now.

Yesterday was a tad bit fucked in the head. And it’s all a girl named Deena’s fault. I went into the city to hang out with my pal Deena. I tried to call this girl about four times, as well as a bunch of texts, but no answer. So I got on the train hoping that she was doing the same thing. Oh by the way, it rained like whoa all day, so already I was wet. Halfway there, she calls me and tells me how she overslept and had her Sidekick on silent. …yeah. I totally get wanting silence and quiet when you sleep, but this crazy girl slept until 1:30. Jabba The Hutt would even be shocked at the bum-ass-laziness Deena displayed yesterday. FOR SHAME. Anyway, Deena got in at like 3, after I waited for about an hour, giving money to people who asked for it and buying some dude a box of popcorn chicken because he seemed nice enough. So, about 15 dollars poorer (because of pure generosity) Deena shows up and we go walk around in the rain and finally get some food. Aside from totally failing the journey to nyc, Deena is a rad girl and we had a pretty great time. We went to this restaurant that let you draw on the table with chalk, so the trip was worth it right there. Then we hit up Barnes and Noble and looked at photography books of naked people. After that her friends came and they went to a concert and I ran to the train station to catch a train. I JUST made it but they fricken kicked me off the train at the next stop because there was a 3 dollar charge on my ticket for being off-peak? wtf is that shit? No clue. anyway, I got off, bought a new ticket, and got on the next train to NJ. I was pretty pissed about it but oh wells. I finally got home and, still pretty wet, jumped into bed and passed out for a good 59395837 hours.

In 17 days I’ll be moving back to New York City to begin year two at the School of Visual Arts. That’s right… 17 days. Pretty gosh darn early, huh? Yeah. I’m gonna be an RA so I have to go let them “train” me to be an RA before they feel comfortable letting me make actual decisions on behalf of the school. Personally I don’t see how a week of training will help. This is me, I’m going to make a whole bonanza of terribly lame decisions either way. They should probably just give me a list of no-no’s. That way I can go down it whenever I’m about to make an authoritative (BIG WORD ALERT) decision. Are you reading this, SVA? No-No list. Get on that.

Okay so right now it’s about 1:20 am. I really wish Man Vs. Wild was on. If you never watched it before, you need to. Bear Grylls, the guy on the show, gets himself lost on purpose in ridiculous places and shows you how to survive there. This guy doesnt fuck around. I’ve seen him escape from quicksand, spear and eat a piranha, kill a rattlesnake with a rock, and bellyflop onto a tiger shark. Yeah, he’s a fucking beast.

Alright, sleep time. Later, people!
